Turn Off Collisions
AndriusKulikauskas: Hi Helmut, I'm preparing to make much more intensive use of ProWiki now that were working on http://www.myfoodstory.com and http://www.myfoodstory.org I will be asking for your help so that we can make good use of ProWiki.
One major problem that I have had is self-collisions. They are problematic even when I understand why they are happening. They are disastrous when a new user runs up against them.
Please, how we can turn off the collision mechanism? Many wikis (such as PmWiki) don't have that. And the solution to writing-over is simply to get the lost material from the archives. It would be better for us to work in that matter. Especially because currently there is so little activity that writing-over is not very likely.
Thank you! AndriusKulikauskas October 11, 2006 8:30 CET
Andrius, we can do that. But can we also make sure that what you see is not "spam defense" which might again be caused by the multi-domain/cookie problem. It shows a "(*spam*)" comment with the edit collision message. Spam defense can be turned off separately. I think I asked that already and got no response. The problems with mulitple domains are a PITA. I know that and I knew it before we went into this. There is no wiki engine that supports that and no other site that uses it. You insisted on that feature, no problem. But now we have to solve the related problems primarily and not so much work around them. -- HelmutLeitner October 11, 2006 9:58 CET
Hi Helmut, I don't know if it is a spam defense. I will try to provide more information. The message seems to say that another user is editing the current page. Yes, it may be that you can solve all the problems. But in the meanwhile it would be great to be able to simplify the system where that is possible. Thank you for your help! Andrius, you can get and install the new 2.0.45 beta, which includes a parameter CollisionDetection (default CollisionDetection=1, turn it off using CollisionDetection=0). -- HelmutLeitner October 11, 2006 16:17 CET
Helmut, Thank you very much for your rapid response! I will ask Algis Cibulskis and/or George Christian Jeyaraj to make the update. Greetings from Episkopi, Cyprus. AndriusKulikauskas October 14, 2006 18:02 CET
